The Hessian/Rhinelander Pfalz is one of the rarest native German riding horses, and is a heavy weight hunter type that has now been mostly incorporated into the German warmblood competition horses. The few original types remain active, strong and even tempered. They occur in most colors and usually stand about 16 hh.
