- Panje -

The Panje horse is rare, and little is known about it. It was used in extreme temperatures of cold and winter, and was considered the only reliable source of transportation at such a time. It is used for pack and hauling purposes, and for carriage pulling. They originated from Russia, during a time when the cold was so severe that it killed many of the larger horses that the Germans brought in for help in WWII. These little ponies, though, the native breed, could easily survive the harsh weather if merely sheltered from the wind, and proved indispensable throughout the war.
