- Haflinger -

These chestnut or palomino ponies were reared in the high alpine pastures of Austria. The Austrian Haflinger bear the famous Edelweiss brand mark, a flower with an "H" in the center. The Haflingers are often referred to as Edelweiss ponies. Haflingers are used for riding ponies in riding centers, sleigh drawing, pack horses, and even light draft work. This strong, hardy breed, although not worked until four years of age, continue to be active and healthy at over forty years old. These ponies have a kindly expression, excellent hooves and legs, and a well-formed neck and shoulders. They stand around 13.3 hands high.
