- Kazakh -

The Kazakh Pony breed is an ancient breed of working pony from Kazakhstan. They have two sub-types: The Dzhabe and the Adaev, with the Adaev being of a lighter frame and more lively than the Dzhabe. This pony stand fourteen hands tall, are short and sturdy in appearance, and have thick, water-proofed coats. Because of their uncomfortably short and choppy stride, they are considered quite unsuitable for riding. They have very hard feet and a plain body and can be any color. Unfortunately today the Kazakh pony is bred mainly for meat.
