The Kazakii pony was originally used for herding the
livestock of nomadic tribes, and its milk was used for the making of kumiss, which was the traditional
alcoholic drink of the region. It has since been developed into two types from its Mongolian origins.
The heavier Dzhabe type, which contains a lot of Don blood, is an exceptionally tough, chunky
pony with a short, thick neck. The lighter Adacyev type contains more of the Karabair, Iomud,
and Akhal-Teke blood, and is not quite as hardy. The colors the Kazakii can be are any shade of
bay, brown, liver chestnut, dun, gray, and light chestnut with a flaxen mane and tail. The average
size is between 12.1 and 13.1 hh.
