- Syrian -

Originally from Syria, the Syrian pony or Syrian Arab is an ancient breed that is closely related to the Arabian. It is often considered that the Syrian Arab is of purely Arabian blood but has developed and adapted according to its region. The Syrian is actually a small horse, exhibiting horse like characteristics and conformation, bit is included in this section due to its height!

The Syrian bears all the virtues of the Arabian and are extremely tough, hardy, and frugal. They are superbly adapted to a desert climate and cope with both heat and cold, as well as poor nutrition. They make excellent riding horses, and in appearance resemble the Arabian, although they are generally a little larger, both in height and in frame. They are also somewhat less attractive, although they have the same presence, spirit, and bearing. Their coats can be gray or chestnut, and they stand between 14.2 and 15.1 hh.
